Nomads

Wandering Women of the Whitewater Tribe

Photo

First-time filmmaker and former pro kayaker Polly Green serves up a generous helping of humanity and whitewater action in her 20-minute film Nomads, about three women making a difference in the African villages of Uganda. In between malaria talks and handing out mosquito nets, the film's three stars tear it up on the White Nile's biggest waves.

Nomad kayakers, Whitney Lonsdale, Jessie Stone, and Emily Jackson are adventurous women who have been drawn to the whitewater of the White Nile River in Uganda. They are friends connected by their love of the river and their compassion for helping others. They traveled to Africa to pursue their passion for kayaking and found a way to give back to the village who housed them by building a sustainable youth art education center, medical clinic, and refurbishing a school. Nomads looks into the lives of these women and the challenges they face.
